I use Soundprobe for my sound editing - you might be able to find it second
hand on Amibench as I'm not entirely sure Hisoft still sell the Amiga version.
It supports a virtual memory type system so a 40MB sound file is nothing
to it (I've successfully loaded a 300MB sound file with only 16MB of RAM)
